One of the first questions guests ask is simple: what will the weather be like? Port St. Lucie sits on Florida’s Treasure Coast, far enough south to stay mild all winter but cooled by Atlantic breezes in summer. Here’s a season-by-season look so you can pick the right time for your trip.
Winter (December – February): Snowbird Season
This is the reason so many northern and Canadian visitors fall in love with Port St. Lucie. Daytime highs typically sit in the mid-70s °F (around 24 °C) with low humidity and plenty of sunshine. Nights can dip into the 50s, occasionally lower when a cold front passes through, so pack a light sweater. The ocean feels cool for swimming, which is exactly why a heated pool makes such a difference this time of year.
- Typical highs: low to mid 70s °F
- Rain: the driest time of year
- Best for: golf, beach walks, sightseeing, long snowbird stays
Spring (March – May): Peak Sunshine
Spring is arguably the sweet spot. Temperatures climb into the 80s, the ocean warms up, and rain is still fairly infrequent. March brings spring training baseball and spring break crowds, so homes book up early. By May it feels like summer has arrived.
Summer (June – September): Hot, Green and Quiet
Summers are hot and humid with highs around 90 °F. Mornings are usually bright and calm, while afternoons often bring a short, dramatic thunderstorm that cools things off. Plan beach time and outdoor activities for the morning, then enjoy the pool or a long lunch while the storm rolls through. Summer is also a great value season with more availability. Hurricane season runs from June 1 to November 30, so travel insurance is worth considering.
Fall (October – November): The Locals’ Secret
As humidity drops in October and November, the Treasure Coast becomes wonderfully comfortable again. Crowds are light, the water is still warm, and you can often find good availability before the winter rush begins.
So When Should You Visit?
- For escaping the cold: January through March
- For warm ocean swimming: May through October
- For the best balance of weather and availability: late October, November and April
