When you’re staying near Disney and Universal, it’s tempting to fill every day with a park visit — but a mid-trip break can genuinely improve the whole vacation, especially with young kids. Davenport and the surrounding area have a few worthwhile alternatives.
Options beyond the parks
- Golf at Providence — the community’s own 18-hole course, with lessons available for beginners
- Posner Park — an outdoor shopping and dining center with a movie theater, a manageable break from park crowds
- Local springs and lakes — several natural swimming spots sit within a reasonable drive for a change from the pool
- A full day of nothing — genuinely underrated; a heated pool at home and no schedule at all
Our advice
We generally suggest building at least one full non-park day into any Orlando trip longer than four or five days. It gives everyone a chance to recover, and it usually means the next park day goes noticeably better than it would have otherwise.
